Hawzah News Agency- Muhammad ibn Ali Majilawayh narrated from Muhammad ibn Yahya al‑Attar, from Muhammad ibn Ahmad, from Abu Sa'id al‑Adami, from Ibrahim ibn Dawud al‑Ya'qubi, from his brother Sulayman ibn Dawud who he linked it up with his chain of narration and said:
قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ ص يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَلِّمْنِي شَيْئاً إِذَا أَنَا فَعَلْتُهُ أَحَبَّنِيَ اللَّهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَ أَحَبَّنِيَ النَّاسُ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ
فَقَالَ لَهُ ارْغَبْ فِيمَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يُحِبَّكَ اللَّهُ وَ ازْهَدْ فِيمَا عِنْدَ النَّاسِ يُحِبَّكَ النَّاسُ.
A man said to The Holy Prophet (pbuh and his family):
'O Messenger of Allah, teach me something which, if I do it, Allah will love me from the heaven, and people will love me from the earth.'
So he said to him:
'Desire what is with Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and Allah will love you; and renounce what is with people, and people will love you.'
